There are two major covenants in the Bible, the blood covenant and the salt covenant. We are saved through the blood sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the blood covenant. But the salt covenant depends on you.
In Leviticus 2:13, God commanded that no offering would be put before him without "the salt of the covenant."
Jesus
said in Mark 9:49: "For everyone will be seasoned with fire, and every
sacrifice will be seasoned with salt. Salt is good, but if the salt
loses its flavor, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and
have peace with one another."
We are living in a
crucial time when we need to be salt to the world! We need to pour the
salt of consecration and holiness on the bread of the Gospel. Don't
just offer the bread of life, live it! The world is looking for it.
Souls desperately need it.
Live in purity as we
share the Good News and the message will penetrate through to those in
need of God's word. God didn't send us to be sugar, He sent us to be
salt!
In 2 Kings 2:19-22, the Bible says Elisha
went into a city where the water was bad and the "ground barren." What
was the solution? Salt. Elisha cast salt on the water at the source and
the water was restored and the city healed.
Jesus
Christ is the bread of the world. But you and I are the salt. If we
want our families, those around us and the world to partake of the
bread of life, we must make it tasty. We must pour salt on it by living
it. They must see the holiness, the righteousness and the separation.
They need to see the power behind the salt covenant.
Creation craves salt. Our human bodies crave salt and will die without it. The church is the body of Christ . . . and we as Christians are the church. Like our human bodies, our
spiritual bodies cannot survive without salt. If we lose our salt, we
will die spiritually. I want to challenge you today to be not just a
hearer of the Word, but be a doer. Get salty! Live your life for God so
that others may see His influence in your actions, your relationships,
your business dealings and so much more.
